What is a Community Session?
Twice a month we arrange online gatherings with journalists, filmmakers and other storytellers.
On the 15th each month we host a "Master Talk", with some of the world's most experienced storytellers, who share their craft and method.
On the 30th each month we host a "Storyteller Project", where you get a look behind the scenes of a project made by one of the storytellers from Duckling Community.
Sessions includes talks, behind-the-scenes insight into real projects, open Q&A with participants.
You can join online, and for selected sessions we also organize communal viewing at physical locations.

What it takes to work as a freelance journalist with award-winning freelance journalist and photographer Olivia Acland
Based between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Greece, Olivia Acland reports extensively across Africa, covering pressing issues including global health, human rights, climate change, and migration.
In addition to reporting for The Economist and, more recently, The Observer, her photography has been published by leading international outlets such as The New York Times, the BBC, and Al Jazeera.
In this session, Olivia Acland will share how stories evolve from the initial idea to publication, what it takes to build a career as a freelance journalist and photographer today, and how to adapt to an industry that is constantly evolving.

Upcoming Storyteller Project
With Christian Moorman, Duckling Seed Grantee and freelance photographer
Christian Moorman is an Guyanese-American photographer based between Paris and Guyana.
His project 'Plastic City' documents life in a Venezuelan refugee camp in Guyana that goes under the name of Plastic City. Through sustained engagement with residents, he portrays how indigeneity is renegotiated in a border zone where territory is no longer ancestral but improvised, and shelter is built from the residue of another society.
In this session Christian Moorman will take us through the proces of his work – from initial idea to finished project – and his connection to the region.
