Biography
Yashovardhan Sodhani is a documentary photographer whose work is driven by curiosity and research. He began his photographic journey through street photography, spending several years working exclusively with 35mm film to develop a strong understanding of composition.
His perspective shifted after discovering documentary photography, realizing the medium could tell stories far beyond the visual. Studying at DMJX became a defining moment in shaping his approach to documentary storytelling, where he continues to focus on human-centered narratives with depth and authenticity.
Project describtion
Each year, the northeastern Indian state of Assam faces devastating floods during the southwest monsoon. In ‘The Hungry River,’ photojournalist Yashovardhan Sodhani documents life along the Brahmaputra, following communities before, during, and after the floods to reveal how a changing river reshapes lives
