Sofie Akanishi Cederholm is an independent filmmaker based in Copenhagen, with a background in dance that informs her cinematic and journalistic work. She explores body language as a universal form of communication, using it to connect with people and cultures across the globe. Her work is shaped by her Japanese-Danish heritage and explores themes of belonging, identity, and cross-cultural existence.

Sofie Akanishi Cederholm travels to Japan with a mission: to meet her Japanese relatives for the first time.
Blending fiction with documentary, through poetry and movement, she searches for a connection to an inherited identity that, for much of her life, has existed beyond reach.
